-
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a series of clear, custom-fitted aligners which can alter the shape and appearance of your smile without metal wires or brackets.
Using advanced 3D computer imaging technology during the consultation process, we will work with you to create a treatment plan unique to your needs.
A series of custom clear aligners will then be manufactured to fit your teeth precisely during each stage of the Invisalign treatment process.
-
How does the Invisalign process work?
Throughout your treatment, your Invisalign aligners will slowly move your teeth into their new positions. After two weeks you will change to the next set of aligners in the series.
This process will continue until your teeth are in their prescribed, corrected positions. The duration of your Invisalign treatment will be determined by your dentist based on your specific needs.
-
How long does Invisalign treatment take?
The length of your treatment will depend on your specific orthodontic needs.
Factors that may determine the duration of your treatment include the misalignment of your teeth or jaw, the shape of your bite, and the amount of movement required to correct the problem.
-
What are Invisalign aligners made of?
Your new Invisalign aligners are made with USP Class VI medical-grade, high molecular-weight polyurethane resins. They are made using a BPA-free material.
-
How often do I have to visit the dentist?
You will be switching your Invisalign clear aligners at home every two weeks. This means that you will only need to visit the dentist every 4 to 6 weeks for a routine check-up.
During these appointments, your dentist will take the opportunity to review your progress and general oral health, answer your questions, and adjust your treatment as required.
-
What are the primary features of Invisalign?
Some of the features that you will experience with Invisalign include:
- A discreet, low-profile appearance
- Smooth construction for a more comfortable fit
- Do not require adjustment appointments
- Removable for eating, brushing and flossing
-
How much does Invisalign cost?
The cost of Invisalign will vary based on your unique treatment plan and desired outcome. For instance, if you have severe malocclusion, you will likely need more sets of clear aligners.
In many cases, the cost of Invisalign is comparable to that of traditional orthodontic treatment (braces).

How will Invisalign fit my lifestyle?
While not for everyone, you may find that Invisalign clear aligners are a suitable fit for your lifestyle.
You can take your aligners out whenever you need to eat, drink, brush and floss. That means no dietary restrictions, and you'll be able to brush and floss thoroughly and consistently.
-
Are there any food or drink restrictions?
Did you know that you get to take your clear aligners out when you eat? This means that you won't be restricted when it comes to eating your favourite foods.
To avoid staining your clear aligners, we recommend removing them when you consume beverages such as wine, coffee, or dark sodas.
-
How many sets of aligners will I need?
Treatment is different for everyone. The number of sets of clear aligners that you will need will vary depending on the issue at hand and your desired outcome.
Only your dentist can give you an accurate estimate of how many aligners you will need, based on a careful evaluation of your bite during an initial consultation.
-
Can adults use Invisalign?
Absolutely! If you are a teen or adult with healthy teeth and gums then Invisalign may be right for you.
More and more adults are deciding to undergo orthodontic treatment these days, in large part because options like Invisalign have become available.
-
Can teenagers use Invisalign?
Yes! In fact, Invisalign has aligners that are geared specifically to the needs of teenagers!
Invisalign Teen aligners have compliance indicators on them (small blue dots that fade away after the aligners have been worn for two full weeks) to help teens stay on track with their treatment.
They also come with eruption tabs that provide space for second molars and prevent them from growing crooked.
-
How often do I have to change my Invisalign aligners?
Most patients change to their next set of aligners every two weeks or so. Speak with your dentist to determine exactly when you should be changing to your new set of aligners.
-
How do I clean my aligners?
You should take the time to rinse your aligners each time you remove them to wash away saliva and debris that may cause decay.
Soak your aligners using a denture cleaner, Retainer Brite, and/or the official Invisalign cleaning crystals.
You should always thoroughly clean your teeth by brushing and flossing before you put your aligners back in. Good oral hygiene is key to maintaining healthy teeth and avoiding cavities and decay. Failing to brush and floss properly can trap food debris and bacteria between your teeth and aligner, increasing your risk of dental problems and bad breath.
Clean your aligners with a clear, anti-bacterial soft soap. Clear anti-bacterial soap is an excellent and inexpensive way to keep your aligners clear, fresh, and free from harmful bacteria.
You should take care when brushing your aligners to avoid scratching them. That's it! Your aligners are clean!
-
Can I play sports with Invisalign?
If you play sports you may appreciate the fact that your Invisalign clear aligners can be removed which allows you to put them away somewhere safe.
However, keep in mind that Invisalign aligners must be kept in for a minimum of 22 hours a day, so take that into consideration when planning your time playing sports and eating.
You'll also want to invest in a sports mouth guard to protect your teeth, as orthodontic treatment can cause your teeth to loosen slightly as they shift into their new positions, and this can make them more susceptible to damage.
-
How do I store my aligners?
Your Invisalign aligners will come with a case which provides you with a safe place to keep your aligners when have them out.
